McKamish, a mid-Atlantic mechanical contractor, offers diverse services and capabilities from metal fabrication to plumbing and industrial heavy piping. The business had previously branded various capabilities as separate groups within the McKamish Company. They approached Blue Archer with the goal of unifying the brand and ensuring prospective clients understand their capability to handle projects of any size
Solution
Our team overhauled the content and information architecture. Ultimately we decided to prioritize content specific to target markets and a project portfolio in lieu of a traditional services page. A comprehensive capabilities section of the site ensures users can still learn about McKamish’s expertise outside of market contextualization if they choose. An employee intranet and job application module helps to round out the functionality of the site.
Strategic Design
After wireframing core areas of the site to determine content needs, our designers began conceptualizing the look and feel for the new website. The challenge with many manufacturing clients who work on services prior to construction completion is the imagery doesn’t always capture the most visually appealing phases of the project. For McKamish, our designer made the decision to layer multiple perspectives of a photo subject on the homepage rotating image slider. This helps to add visual interest without relying too heavily on the subject of the image itself.

Project Portfolio
The new portfolio allows McKamish to showcase key projects in various verticals including healthcare, education, government, and more. Visitors can search portfolio projects by market and drill down to projects to view similar solutions. Each portfolio project includes an image slider and important information such as the contract value and location.
The McKamish website redesign was an efficient, smooth project from beginning through launch. We look forward to working with McKamish ongoing to help monitor and improve the site over time.
