Your brand, your story. Without establishing a timeline of events or verbal expressions of how far you and your business have come, are you truly worthy of competing? Stories add meaning and substance as to why your brand is here. Don’t let assumptions undermine your offerings, but adequately engage with your audience and tell your own truth. 

Stories are invisible

In fact, stories only appear visible if written down or created into a visual art. However, when someone tells a story it’s not something we can grab or show others. The mind puts together symbols, like words and images, to create a scene to match the words being expressed. 

Now, imagine picturing your company profile or website and the stories being created in user’s minds based off the information given. The probability of bad assumptions is high if you’re not in control of what the user thinks.

If you don’t give the market a story to talk about, they’ll define your story for you.

Remember these tips when forming your brands story.

  • Get your story organized
    • It’s important to have a proper flow from where you started and where you are now. Gaps in your story may cause confusion or distrust. 
  • Your story, not there’s
    • Telling the same story as everyone else can be boring and lackluster. What’s unique to your brand? Expressing the right details make your brand unique and definable.
  • Pictures mean a thousand words (it’s true)
    • Creating a visual identity along with your story gives the reader factual evidence. Win an award? Showcase that time with a picture. Experience a decrease in sales? Show the data. People like visuals!
  • No brand is perfect
    • Your brand’s story shouldn’t be full of rainbows and butterfly’s. Displaying your rough times is important for your audience to see how far you have come within the market. This not only shows how your business can overcome deficits but your strength and courage by admitting to weakness. 

Your story never ends. Updating and tweaking your brand’s story is vital. Never rely on old achievements. Just like our lives, things change. Same goes for your brand, so showcase it!
