Happy Friday!

Happy Friday everyone!  The tech review for this week will look into an up and coming professional digital platform that will compete with LinkedIn, Amazon’s plans for opening its first store, Tesla’s state of the art Model S sedan, and laser-eye-surgery leader Josef Bille’s plans for curing blindness.

Conspire Against LinkedIn

LinkedIn has become the go-to platform for networking in the business world with over 300 million users.  But now a new startup called Conspire is hoping to tap into the same marketshare as LinkedIn, with a new approach on how to meet people.  By tapping into communication platforms and using big analytic data, Conspire finds the most reliable chain of connections between you and the person you want to meet.

Amazon's Opening it's First Store!

Amazon is knows as the mega-retailer of the web, but they are planning on opening a physical store in New York City, WSJ reported Thursday.  The store will be more like a warehouse and you’ll be able to return and exchange things you buy online in the store.  You’ll also be able to order something online in the morning and pick it up at the store that night.  The location will be across from the Empire State Building at 7 West 34th street.

Tesla's New Model

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk unveiled Thursday night, the ultra-power “dual-motor,” also known as the “D,” the new and improved Model S sedan.  The car looks familiar from the outside, but has a radical improvement in it’s engine.  The acceleration is faster, the top speed is higher, and for the first time ever, the efficiency of the car actually increases.

Blindness to be Gone

Of over 250 million people suffering from visual impairment around the world, four in five cases are preventable or curable.  Blindness is a needless suffering and has become a key priority for growth in treatment.  An expected 32 million cataract operations will take place in 2020, up from 12 million in 2000.  Leading the charge is Dr. Josef Bille, the pioneering scientist who invented laser eye surgery in 1986.
