It can be hard keeping a website updated and in tip-top shape.  One of the hardest parts is looking for those obvious glares that many customers or site visitors will see.  It's easy to just overlook these issues, because you see your website so often.  How, then, can you quickly check your website for these problems? Luckily, there are quite a few tools at there that are designed to work with problems just like these.  Even better, a lot of these tools are free and easy to use!

  1. Woorank is an online marketing software provider for small businesses.  They offer an assessment service, for free, right on their website.  Simply type in the URL of your website into the textbox, click Website Review, and you're good to go.  An easy to use page will come up that tells you areas in which your website passed, areas where you have room for improvement, and errors that were found that need fixed.  There's also a circle on the very right of the screen that shows your website's "grade" which will range between 1-100.
  2. BDC also offers a free website assessment tool.  Once again you type in your business's URL.  You will receive a small summary, a link analysis, accessibility analysis, user experience analysis, and more.  The nice thing about BDC is that it is incredibly easy to use, and even easier to understand.  This is a good tool for a business owner who doesn't necessarily update the website, but wants to make sure that it is up to standards.
  3. Hubspot's Marketing Grader is probably one of the more well known tools to use for assessing websites.  After entering your website's URL you will be taken to a new page with a full report on it.  There you will see your website's overall grade, between 1-100.  There will also be a list of important website aspects, and how your website ranked in them.  On this list is social media, SEO, blogging, lead generation, mobile, and more.  Each section of the list shows you where you can improve, and how to do so.
  4. WAVE is also a tool you can use to assess your website for free.  Simply type in your website's URL, and you will be redirected to a page that features both your website, and a bar on the side that shows your website's evaluation.  At first, in the bar, you will see a summary of the evaluation.  This will show you if there are any errors, any structural elements that need fixed, contrast errors, etc.  Then you can navigate down the bar to read more details, learn more information, or see a general outline of the evaluation.
  5. HeatSync is a website that offers free evaluations, but these tend to be more complex, and not necessarily recommended for those who aren't tech savvy.  You simply enter your website's URL then you will be taken to a page that includes heaps of information about your website.  You will get to see the overall rank of your website, as well as its general reputation.  You'll get to see demographic information, performance information, traffic information, SEO information, etc.  This is definitely a good tool for more complex problems.

At Blue Archer, we offer a totally free website evaluation, which can be found here.
