Business Strategy: Planning for Errors

One of the most common problems in business development, especially coding, is the movement from an idea to the final product. Problems seem to accrue during the downhill sector of growth; however, these issues can be examined during the uphill stage of development. Let’s analyze how to catch these complications so they don’t surprise you later.  

The process

Often, strategies start with an idea and follow with a process to form this idea into an actual product/service that can be used. The process generally starts with taking any step towards the end goal. 

For engineers, coding processes are continual developments that need to be created to generate a system. With coding, problems usually surface after the software is made. We are going to analyze how to catch these issues during the uphill development to avoid re-creations. 

The easiest way isn’t always the best way. The common problem is that in the uphill sector of an idea, the ideal end goal is imaginary. We pick a path that we feel is the easiest to accomplish in our minds and go for it. Sometimes, this works. 

It doesn’t work when problems arise during the downhill sector when the end goal is in sight. Say you wanted a certain code to be directed towards a nonstop path, but then realize the path you chose doesn’t allow for the path to be redirected back to the starting point. This creates a problem which emphasizes the importance of real-time thinking rather than imaginary ideas. 

The solution is to start at the bottom. If all you have thought about is one problem and the solution to fix it, then you’re at the bottom of the business process. At this point, you have done/proved nothing to be worthy of building up your hill. 

  • Pick the essentials 
    • Start with little steps to move towards your idea or write some code to prove out your idea. Pick out the moving parts that are necessary to validate your approach. 
  • Problems will occur
    • You will still run into problems, except this time your team will expect it to happen since you’re still in the uphill phase. Your development is all about testing the unknowns to be prepared for mishaps and finding ways to troubleshoot those problems. 

These examples and tips are for any occasion big or small. Whether it’s an event or even tech related, learning to grasp topics in the uphill stage is essential for any growth.
