Your Facebook page plays a major role in the social media element of your organization or business. Little to no comments, likes, or just attention to the page in general can be detrimental. You may shrug it off as just being a Facebook page, but this a crucial tool in engaging your audience. Increasing your comments and interaction also means strengthening your relationship with your followers.

Engagement

Social media is a platform where your organization can hone personal relationships with your supporters. This is unique to most other types of advertising or publicity.

Keep it About the Viewers

  • Ask your followers for their opinion. Use different formats to switch it up. You could do anything from polls, quizzes, fill in the blanks, or just asking how everyone likes what you have to offer.
  • Highlight those that do comment. Quote them and share their information. See more ways to make them an expert here
  • Make it fun and ask people to post pictures that relate to your cause or do contests with your audience.

Ultimately, when it comes to gaining comments, there are no shortcuts. It is about engaging your followers and encouraging them to have a conversation with you. Here are some creative ways to interact with your viewers.

 What to Post

What you post has a significant impact on who comments or likes your content. You must be interesting and keep them coming back for more.

Rules for the Post

  • Keep it relevant, interesting, entertaining, witty, or funny.
  • Schedule regular updates
  • Again, engage the audience. They want to know why this matters to them. Make their voices count!
There are definitely creative ways to spice up your content. Include videos, or if you are able, link to your own YouTube video blog. Here are some great ways to improve your content!

Also, keep in mind, this isn't just about what you post. It is also about how you interact with others, just like in the real world. Be sure to seek out individuals or groups that relate to your cause. If you share their content on your page, you are opening yourself up for more exposure and more comments.

When to Post

You may not think about it, but timing can be everything in terms of who views your posts. It is reasonable to post when people will be checking their Facebook. This usually occurs in the early morning, right before work, or early evening, right after. Facebook also does well around noon when people are eating lunch. Here are some more times to post.

However, there is a more customized alternative. Just follow these simple steps:

Step One: Go to your page's settings and click view "Insights"

Step Two: Click "Posts" then "When your fans are online"

Step Three: This will bring up a chart on when your followers are most likely to be online. Browse this and post accordingly!

Whether you post according to national data or your personal data, timing is still important. The goal is to have your update appear on the newsfeed when your followers are logging on. Otherwise, your great content may go unnoticed.

Why Comments Matter

Comments let you know that your audience is paying attention and gaining something from your social media platform. They are important in determining the level of interaction and the strength of your relationship with your followers. More comments mean a stronger, more engaged following!
